Text messages from Love, Baxter

How we collect consent, what we send, and how to stop.

What we send

Love, Baxter plants memorial trees on behalf of veterinary clinics and pet-care businesses when a client’s pet passes away. When a tree is planted, we send the family one text message with a link to their pet’s memorial certificate. One message per memorial tree. No marketing, no recurring messages, no promotions.

Example:

Hi Beata, Angel Pets Veterinary Hospice planted a tree in AnnaBeth’s memory. AnnaBeth’s memorial certificate: https://trees.lovebaxter.com/certificate/…

How consent is collected

The pet owner gives their mobile number to their veterinary clinic in person, usually at the time of the appointment, and agrees to receive their pet’s memorial certificate by text. The clinic records that consent by entering the number into an optional field in our partner portal. The field is labeled “Client’s mobile number (optional)” and carries this instruction:

When the tree is planted we text them the certificate link alongside the email. Texts have no spam folder. Only add a number the family is happy to receive a text on.

Families who do not consent are not texted and receive their certificate by email only. No message is ever sent without a clinic entering the number.

Verbal consent script

Clinic staff ask for consent in person using this script before entering a mobile number. The portal shows it next to the mobile-number field.

“We are planting a memorial tree in [pet’s name]’s memory through Love, Baxter. Would you like the link to the memorial certificate texted to you as well as emailed? It is one text message from Love, Baxter when the tree is planted. Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to opt out or HELP for help. What is the best mobile number for you?”

If the answer is anything other than yes, the number is not entered and the family receives the certificate by email only. Consent is recorded by the clinic entering the number; the portal stores who entered it and when.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message and you will not receive further texts from this number. Reply HELP for help, or email support@lovebaxter.com. Message and data rates may apply. Messages are sent from a Love, Baxter toll-free number on behalf of the clinic named in the message.
